FROM THE COMMANDER
For those of you that may not have heard our member of over 50 years, Jim Kleintop, has crossed over to Fiddler’s Green. We don’t have know all the details yet but there will be a Celebration of Life on September 21st, more details to come.
If you didn’t know, September is National Suicide Prevention Month and National Service Dog Month. I want you to know if you ever need someone to talk to please don’t hesitate to contact me or one of your other brothers or sisters here at the Post. If it isn’t us reach out to someone.
If you haven’t been by the Post lately you should stop by to see how it is looking, visit some friends or meet some new people. Our kitchen is now open everyday except Sunday. We may offer a limited menu during football season. We will have to see how it goes. We do have the sports channels this year so come on out to support the Post!
Channel 55 is requesting some Veterans to give an interview about an experience that you had and how did you get through it. September 4th, at 4:00 if you are interested in finding out about this they will be at our post and they will explain what they are looking for. Basically, they want you to tell them how you got through something so that you might encourage someone else to get through their issues. The actual interview would take place at our post on September 18th at 4:00.

And just like that, summer is coming to an end. I hope everyone has had a good one.
I would like to thank everyone that came out to support the spaghetti dinner and those that helped to make it happen.
We are doing a school supply drive and will continue to collect supplies through September 14. You can place your donations in the school bus box in the canteen.
We will also continue to collect Acme receipts through December. You can leave your receipts in the collection envelope in the entry way.
The Warriors Journey Home’s golf outing is being held on September 22 this year. The Auxiliary has sponsored an “honors team” of veterans to participate in the outing. This is a great event every year for a great cause.
We will be having our half way to Lent fish fry on October 18. Mark your calendars and spread the word. Volunteers are always needed and appreciated at these events.
Let’s not forget our Queen of Hearts drawing every Wednesday, which is now over $5,000. Come in and also try our weekly dinner special.
The Auxiliary will be celebrating our 100th anniversary in February. Stay tuned for exciting updates of events.
Our next meeting is September 9 at 6:00. Our meetings are open to all auxiliary members.
