Hi everyone. I guess it’s time to admit that summer is over and fall is here.
Please remember we are still collecting Acme receipts and will do so through December.
Every year along with our stuff the bus collection, we make a donation to Preston Elementary school. This year we donated towards the purchase of a 3D printer that they requested.
We also donated to an organization called Tour of Duty. Their mission is to locate and return the approximately 81,000 POW/MIA that were left behind. What is unique about their organization is they have engaged veterans to help with their mission, using their military skills and giving them a new purpose. You can learn more about their efforts at www.toursofduty.org.
Another donation was also made to Keys to Serenity for their fishing derby. Keys to Serenity is a non-profit organization in Cuyahoga Falls to aid children impacted by parental addiction. It was started by Brenda Cameron Ryan who lost her daughter to addiction. She has done some incredible things since losing her daughter. You can find more information about the derby and her organization at Keys2serenity.org.
We have our annual Halfway to Lent fish fry coming up on October 18 from 5:00 to 7:30. We will also be having our bake sale and donations are gladly accepted for that. We will need volunteers!
This year’s Military Ball is being held November 9 at the Ravenna post. Tickets are $25 per person. The last day to request tickets is October 26. Let us know if you want to reserve your tickets.
Once again this year our post will be hosting the Warriors Journey Home Witness Tree Ceremony. The ceremony will be every day at 5:30 November 1 through November 10. On November 11, Veterans Day, the ceremony will be at 12:00 pm. This ceremony is to raise awareness of veterans suicide. An average of 22 veterans commit suicide every day. If you have never attended, the Witness Tree ceremony is a moving ceremony and a reminder of the sacrifices that have been made for our freedoms.
