Newsletter February 2023

FROM THE COMMANDER

I can’t believe the time as come to start our Lenten Fish Frys! Our first one of the year is on February
24 th ! We will have a signup sheet on the board for volunteers. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it would not happen without volunteers. They will be from 5:00 to 7:30. If you cannot volunteer each week or even the entire night, every little bit helps!

I also want to announce that our car cruise in that took place on the first Saturday of the month is
changing to every Thursday from May through September from 5:00 Pm until 7:30 Pm. We also will
have our full menu available!

Our Super Bowl Party will be February 12th, food served at 6:00 Pm and open until the game is over,
finger food provided and side dishes appreciated to share!

I’m very happy to announce that instead of our posts annual picnic we are going to combine our picnic
with our 100th Post Anniversary celebration this August 6th! We are going to have food trucks
available to give all of our members, guests an opportunity to enjoy our celebration. I know this is a
few months away but I wanted to let everyone know about our 100th Anniversary! This could never
have happened without many volunteers from our Membership, Auxiliary and our Post volunteers who
over many years have kept our club alive. I’m so proud of what all of these people have done over the
years to make this happen and I’m very humbled to be a part of this very important special celebration. Please put this in your calendar and join us for a special celebration! This is on a Sunday from 12:00 –
8:00!

Auxiliary Corner

Hello Family, I hope everyone is staying warm, Spring will be here before we know it.

Even though January was a slow month for us, we sure do have a few events coming up in the future
and we need help!

At our last meeting, we had 1 new member, Mike Fields, let’s all wish him a warm welcome.

Don’t forget our monthly drawings, February 4th is the Post’s next monthly drawing at 7:00 PM.
Just a reminder the post is still doing Sunday Euchre tournaments, it’s been a lot of fun. Bring a dish to
share if you want, a couple people usually provide snacks and the post will make hot dogs, or maybe
order a pizza.  The next one will be held on Sunday February 5th at 2:00 PM.

Sunday February 12th the Post is having a Superbowl party starting at 6PM, there will be food and the
Post will stay open until the game is over.  There will be finger foods and please bring a dish to share,
it’s appreciated.

On February 23rd the Post will have a Canteen meeting, this meeting is open to any member of the
Post, it’s a good way to find out what’s going on in the club. This meeting takes place at 6:00 PM.

Our yearly fish fry starts on February 24th and will continue through good Friday.  The hours will
remain the same as last year and will be from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, we need volunteers to make this a
great fundraiser. To my knowledge we are the only place around that has perch, in addition we will
have chicken fingers and shrimp. Yummy! Auxiliary will again be doing a bake sale, so we need help
with baked good donations.

We are planning another dinner after Good Friday, so we will need ideas for the event, also, we had
discussed a possible themed dance, Let’s get the party started! I’m looking forward to us getting out
more and doing things together and making many memories.

I had received a letter from district 8 stating all Auxiliaries are at 100% on our projects and reporting.
Way to go guys. We are doing great.

Sick Call,
Please keep Kathy Kalbach in our prayers, she is going through a lot and has had some medical issues
arise in the last year.  If you know of anyone of our other Auxiliary members are sick please let me
know so we can add them to the sick call list.  It’s greatly appreciated.

Our next meeting will be held on Monday February 13th at 6:00 PM at the Post, hope to see you there
and remember to thank a veteran today.

God Bless,

Stephanie Gobrogge
