Newsletter January 2023

FROM THE COMMANDER

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s 2023 already. We had a
few very cold days last month and I hope we don’t have to many more of those because
winter isn’t over yet. Remember to check on your family and friends who are staying
indoors because of the weather and see if they need anything or they just might need a
visit from us.

I found out from being at a recent doctor’s appointment that they have a Vietnam Agent
Orange Registry, so if you are someone who was there you should consider doing this.
Allot has changed recently so if you are discouraged from the past, like I said allot has
changed.

Our Summit County membership is currently at 89%. We went from 85 posts in the past
to 71 in 1976 to 31 currently. From over 100 thousand members to 44 thousand now.
Please help us to recruit new members so we don’t lose any more of our posts. All Post
riders are now going to be at the District 8. There is a riders committee so if interested
contact the District 8, l can give you the information. No canteen member is allowed to
be a rider.

I want to thank everyone for this past year support of our post. Without the volunteers
that did so much with so few people we wouldn’t have had such a great year!

Auxiliary Corner

Happy new year! I cannot believe how fast 2022 flew by. We are planning many events this year
to try to reach out to our community.

For the month of January, we do not have many activities going on but we are looking for new
ideas to get started on activities, and fundraising ideas and we do need your help.

We wrapped up our lottery boards. Congratulations to Dave Golec for winning both the $2 and
$5 boards. We are taking a break from doing the lottery boards and are wanting to think of
another way to do a raffle of some kind that’s different.

At our last meeting we swore in 4 new Auxiliary members. This is huge for us. Let’s continue to
keep up the good work!

Reminder the Post is still doing Euchre tournaments every other Sunday at 2pm.
Our next meeting will be held on Monday January 9th at 6pm.

Lastly, I hope everyone is staying warm. Don’t forget to thank a Veteran today.

Stephanie Gobrogge,
President.
