Newsletter – December 2020

From the Commander

December is here and what a year it has been. This hasn’t been a great year for myself and I’m sure it hasn’t been a great year for most of us. So many changes especially with the kids spending so much time home together and driving themselves and the parents crazy! I hope we can get back to some kind of normal but I don’t think that is going to happen any time soon. We temporary stopped Karaoke since we have to close now at 9:30 so everyone can be home by 10:00.

I hope you can come out and support the club, we have the women’s pool league on Tuesday, Queen of Hearts on Wednesdays, Thursday is our men’s pool league, a DJ playing music on Fridays and Euchre every other Sunday.  Our kitchen is open from Tuesday thru Saturday and the food is available for take-out.

I’m sure most of you, if not all, of us has had some family or friends that has been affected with COVID-19 and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and them and everyone who is going thought this.

Our very good friend from the Rubber Ducks is offering us for the 2021 Baseball season a small package with 4 undated ticket vouchers and a T-shirt. The ticket vouchers can be used at any game during the 2021 season and can be used all in 1 game or split into multiple games. The price for this package is $30.00. This could also be a great Christmas gift for someone, and what I like about it is you can use the tickets at any game. If you are interested in this just let any of our Bartenders know and I will make sure you can get these Tickets.

We also are selling tickets for a Browns basket, just ask one of the bartenders for them.

As we close out the year, I just want to remind you that dues are due for 2021. Dues this year are $40.00, see the bartender to renew your membership. If you are not coming into the Post you can mail your dues to Post. Please put Attn: Quartermaster on the envelope.

Our Post will not be doing anything special this year for Christmas, but we will have Pork and Sauerkraut on the 31st which will be at about 8:00 because the club will close at 9:30.  So I hope to see you soon at the club and I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a happy New Year.

From the Auxiliary

The year is coming to an end, and what a year it’s been. Although it has been tough at times, we know that it has made us more grateful than ever.

The Auxiliary District 8 meeting will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 10:00am. The in-person meeting will be held at the Hubbard VFW Post. If you would like to attend via Zoom, please email vfwaux1062@gmail.com. We will send you the information so that you can join from home.

Thank you to everyone who donated hats, gloves, coats, and other cold weather items during the District’s Stuff the Bus event. We really appreciate your help and we know that veterans in need appreciate it too.

We approved one membership application at our November meeting. Joey Gobrogge will be a welcome addition to the Auxiliary. He is the son of our Post’s Commander, Bernie Gobrogge, and stepson to our Secretary, Stephanie Goborgge.

We will hold our December meeting one week early due to Christmas. Our meeting will be Monday, December 14, 2020, at 7:00pm. We would love to see more of our members join us for this meeting or any of our other meetings.

If we don’t see you before then, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Best wishes for a fabulous 2021!
