From the Commander
It’s February already and there is a lot going on in the next few weeks. Our Super Bowl Party will start at 5:30 Pm on February 2nd, and we are requesting everyone bring a side dish for a pot luck dinner. Signup is at the post.
Our Friday Fish Fry for Lent starts on February the 28th, and continue for 7 weeks, ending on April 10th. We will be serving from 5pm until 7:30pm. I hope everyone has a chance to come and support our club. This is one of our most important fundraisers of the year, and we can always use volunteers to help out, even just a couple of hours would be appreciated.
The Cuyahoga Falls Parade Committee Meetings start on the 17th of this month Monday at our Post. This will be a great time to attend these meetings and see what is needed to support the event. The Parade Committee can always use volunteers to help make this a great time.
We are in the process of replacing the material on our bar stools, and I want to thank our VFW Auxiliary for purchasing the material for us. We will be looking for volunteers to help us with replacing and fixing the bar stools. It will probably be a Saturday or Sunday after the Super Bowl, but before the Fish Fry. We will update the calendar on the website and at the Post.
Put in your calendar that we are having a chili cook-off which is sponsored by Warriors Journey Home. This is a family event on March 14th at 1pm at the Post. I hope you can come and support this outstanding Organization.
Also, in march our VFW and Auxiliary will participate in the Community Expo at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium. The Expo starts at 8am and ends at 2pm. We are going to let the public know what we are all about and hopefully also get some new members to join our Post.

Our new year is starting off with excitement! At our January meeting, we voted in another new member. Thank you to everyone who is recruiting and helping our Auxiliary grow!
Thank you also to everyone who brought in their Acme receipts for the Acme Community Cashback Program. The receipts were tallied and submitted in late January. We appreciate your help in raising funds for our Auxiliary. We will find out how much we receive in 6-8 weeks.
The material for the bar stools has finally arrived! Volunteers will be replacing torn fabric on the seats soon. We hope you will enjoy sitting in our Canteen on the refurbished stools.
Thank you to everyone who has been purchasing tickets for our lottery board raffle and, just recently, our gift card raffle. We enjoy creating these raffles and it helps our Auxiliary continue to support our Post and veterans in our area.
On January 16, 2020, we hosted our first-ever networking event with the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce. As you may know, the Auxiliary joined the Chamber in August 2018 as a way to be more connected to the community and business leaders. Over 50 Chamber members attended, many of them visiting our Post for the first time. The feedback was positive and a few Chamber members want to find ways to work with the Post. We look forward to more opportunities to utilize our Chamber membership to educate others about our Post and bring more visitors through our doors. A special thank you to VFW Surgeon, Shawn McGraw, and Sea Cadet, Catherine “CC” Wade, for helping set up the hall before our guests arrived.
Ash Wednesday is February 26th this year. That means the first of seven Fish Frys will take place Friday, February 28th! As in years past, the Auxiliary will be holding a bake sale during the weekly dinners. If you like to bake and would like to donate items for the sale, please bring them to the Post on any Friday between February 28th and April 10th. We appreciate your assistance. We look forward to seeing everyone this year!
Our next meeting will be Monday, February 17, 2020 at 6:00pm. Please note the time change. This will be the time for our meetings in February, March, and April. In May, we will resume our regularly scheduled time of 7:00pm.
