Newsletter June 2019

Message from the Commander

May 18th was our Post cleanup; I want to thank everyone that came out for their hard work. Our Post is in constant need cleaning and repair, just like your house. We want everyone to feel like they are at home while they are here.

I want to thank everyone who helped with putting the flags on the Veterans graves at Chestnut Memorial Gardens Cemetery for Memorial Day and picking them up the following Saturday. The weather was outstanding for the Memorial Day Parade. I believe this year we had the most participants in the parade since the fire in 2012. This year our Purple Heart Float won “Best in Parade”. Thank you to everyone who put in the hard work to make this year’s parade successful!

We know our parking lot is in need of great repair, we will be having a Summer Barbecue Fundraiser. We are planning one cookout a month. The first one will be on June 8th from 2:00 – 6:00 Pm, and we will be severing Brats, Burgers, homemade potato salad, baked beans and strawberry pie and the cost will be $10.00. Come on down, remember to bring friends and family, to the post and have a great meal and help us reach our goal to get a new parking lot for the Post. If you are unable to come enjoy what we are serving and would like to donate to the fund, we have a Go Fund Me Account on our website. All proceeds from the cookout and from the GoFundMe account will be going to help replace the parking lot.

We are also working with the Rubber Ducks for a fundraiser. We have selected two dates where if you purchase tickets through a special link or QR Code you will get tickets for only $10.00 and the Post will receive a portion of each ticket sold. We have a flyer posted on our message board at the Post. The dates selected were June 13th and August 22nd. These are Thursday night games and are also $1.00 beer night.

The Vietnam Traveling Wall which is sponsored by VFW post 6768 in Northfield will be on display from June 13th thru June 16th.

Our new Officers will be sworn in at our July meeting.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer that is finally here and I hope to see you soon at the Post.

Message from the Auxiliary

What a Memorial Day weekend. We could not have asked for better weather. Was fun to be in the parade! A huge thank you to ALL who made the weekend great.

The year for us is coming to an end. We are 100% participated in our requirements for the year. Yeah team!!! Let’s keep it up and do it again next year.

Our lottery boards have done well this year. Thanks to you all who helped in this adventure. The monies obtained help us pay our annual obligations. The winner of the May lottery board was Genny Moore. Hope you did well.

June brings the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to the Northfield post (8586 Olds Right Road). It will be on display 24 hours a day June 13 to 16. Opening ceremony will be 3p on Thursday June 13.
