Upcoming Events outside the Post

March 23rd – Community Expo at the Natatorium from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. We will be there with the Auxiliary letting the community know we are here and what we are about and hopefully get some memberships. We are always surprised by people’s comments when they say I didn’t know you were here, that the Post was open or I thought it burned down. Then we tell them some of the eligibility requirements and they are like wow we actually qualify to join the VFW or Auxiliary.

May 25th – Place flags on Veteran graves for Memorial Day at Chestnut Memorial Gardens. More information to follow as we get closer. We can always use help; more hands make light work.

May 27th – Memorial Day Parade. We look forward to honoring our fallen comrades on this year Memorial Day, I hope you will join us this year if you haven’t before.

Things we are thinking of trying

We are thinking of trying to start a Family game night sometime in the summer months after the kids are done with sports for the school year. Also, we are also thinking of trying to start a game for the adults called “Show Me the Money”, I will have a paper at the post to explain how this game works and the we will figure out a date to start this if we have interest from the post.

Auxiliary News

February 9th, we held our first ever Family Freedom Festival. We had a table for the post and auxiliary at which we handed out literature about what it is we do and also had applications to join our organization. We had ten local vendors showcasing their products. We provided hotdogs and chips donated by Sam’s Club and BJ’s. We were collecting monies to help the students at St. Joseph School. They are going to Washington DC in April and we collected $565 to help them pay for their trip. A big thank you to the post for their help in this endeavor and a huge thank you to all our auxiliary volunteers.
March 3 is the District 8 meeting at Firestone Post. If you are able, please join me in attending.
March 12 we are again playing Bingo at Kentridge Senior Living. Meet at the post at 6p and we can go from there.
Our next meeting is March 18 at 7pm. Hope to see you all there.
Looking to the future, April is election month. Please consider an office or chair of a committee or both.
