Newsletter June 2022

From the Commander

I want to thank everyone for their hard work this Memorial Day. There is allot involved in the planning and with our VFW being the host post it was a busy day. We also had allot of volunteers for people who put the flags on the Veterans Graves the Saturday before Memorial Day. Remember we will be picking up the flags this Saturday, June 4th at 9:00. We will meet at the cemetery.

If you or someone you know needs a copy of their DD214 it is going to take at least 5 months but probably longer to get it. You need to get a SF180 form, fill it out and give it to your funeral home if you have one already planned. If you want to go to Rittman which is a National Cemetery you must give it to them if this is where you want to go, you must register there. I will go to the Veterans Service Commission and try to get some of these forms and have them at the post. You can also get them from the funeral home.

We need volunteers to help with our spaghetti dinner this month.

From the Auxiliary

Hello members!

The weather has been hot, and our Auxiliary is on fire!!!!

I want to thank everyone who has been showing up and helping as they can. We have been so busy, but it’s been so rewarding. The pig roast was so much fun, we even lost power but still kept on going. The food was so delicious!

Memorial Day was another success, and we had a lot of food left over and though it was a hot day, it turned out perfect. We got to have lunch with the sweetest WWII Veteran. He sure did enjoy himself.

Please join us on Friday June 17th for our spaghetti dinner. The cost is $8.00 and will include spaghetti, salad, bread. Meatballs will be extra and there is an option for a Meatball sub in place of spaghetti.  We will need volunteers to help serve, bus tables, cook, etc. to make this dinner a success.

On Saturday June 4th, we are having our Monthly cruise in from 12pm-4pm.  We need volunteers to come look at cars, help with cooking and running food out and just enjoying each other’s company. Please participate and bring your fancy vehicles, bikes.

We are still discussing the details to do a memorial sometime at the Post in honor to remember all those we have lost over the past couple of years. There have been so many we have lost, and we wanted to come together. Please stay tuned for more information.

I know summertime is super busy and we want to do more but we do need the help. We don’t want anyone to get burned out doing all of the events. Please help in any way that you can.  Please come visit us.

Our next meeting will be held on Monday June 13th at 6pm, Please join us. We have a lot to go over. If you are on Facebook and want to be added to our auxiliary group, please reach out. Remember to thank a veteran today.

Stephanie Gobrogge,

President.
