I also want to thank everyone who participated in our Post clean-up. It was a lot of work for our few volunteers. We didn’t get everything done, so l ask you if you could help us at our next clean-up it that would be greatly appreciated. Many hands make light work.

I want to also thank the many post members and our other volunteers who helped make this year’s fish fry a huge success!

Upcoming events:

  • This Saturday May 7th is our first car show for the summer season. This is the only one this summer that has a $10.00 vehicle entrance fee. This is to help us redo our parking lot. Cars, Trucks and Motorcycles are all welcome and there will be trophies awarded and food and beverages will be available. This should be a huge event so l hope to see allot of you there.
  • Armed Forces Day May 21st the post will be having a Hawaiian luau-pig roast.  The cost is $35.00 per person and children are $10.00, and this is a pre-paid event! Cocktails start at 4:00 and dinner will be served at 6:00. Corn hole tournament, 50/50 drawing after dinner. Menu is Roast Pork, BBQ pulled pork, Grilled chicken, Al Gratin potatoes, California medley mixed vegetables, salad, rolls and butter, appetizers and desserts!
  • May 28th we will be putting the flags on all of the Veterans graves at the Chestnut Cemetery. Starting at 9:00 Am. This only takes a few hours with if we get enough volunteers. If you can only help for an hour or two that’s okay. This is truly an honor to decorate headstone of our fallen heroes!
  • May 30th is our 90th Memorial Day Parade in Cuyahoga Falls and our Post is the host Post this year which starts at 9:00. I’m very happy to announce that we are having this because it’s been a while since we were able to have the Parade with the past pandemic. Our Post will be pulling the Purple Heart float and are looking for Purple Heart recipients to fill the seats. They do not need to be a member of the Post to be on the float. If you know of a Veteran that has received a Purple Heart and is willing to participate in the parade by riding on the float, please let one of the officers or one of our bartenders know. The Post will have a cookout after the parade and firing details, usually around 1:00 PM.
  • June 4th at 9:00 AM we will meet again at Chestnut Cemetery to pickup the flags. The more volunteers we have the faster it goes.
  • June 17th our post Auxiliary is going to have a spaghetti dinner at $5:00. More information about this in our June newsletter.
  • Our post is going to start up a Dart League in the near future, more information on that later.

Important Historical Events:

  • May 7, 1945 – Unconditional surrender all German forces signed
  • May 8, 1945 – V-E Day declared
  • May 15, 1942 – Woman’s Army Corps founded
  • May 21stArmed Forces Day
  • May 30th Memorial Day observed

I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to see you soon.

News from the Auxiliary President

Hello members!

I am so excited for our summertime fun to get started!!!!

First, I wanted to thank everyone again for their help and support with the fish frys. Whether you volunteer your time to help or even donated some desserts or came and visited and had some delicious food, you are appreciated! We could have not done this without you.

On Saturday May 7th, we are having our first cruise in.  We are having one the first Saturday of the month from 12pm-4pm thru October.  We need volunteers to come look at cars, help with cooking and running food out and just enjoying each other’s company. Please participate and bring your fancy vehicles, bikes.

We are having our pig-roast luau on Saturday May 21st at 4PM. Auxiliary is helping setup and teardown. We will be supplying decorations, appetizers & desserts so any help, donations, etc is appreciated! Tickets for this event are going fast. Tickets are $35 per person and children are $10.00 per person. Please see a bartender for tickets. Limited tickets available.

The Memorial Day parade is a go this year, finally after the pandemic. The parade starts at 9AM and Auxiliary will be participating.  Auxiliary will be getting a cake and supplying a dish for lunch after the parade. Please if you can, bring a side dish to share, if you can’t make it, you can always drop something off at the club prior. We need your help!

Save the date for Friday June 17th at 5pm for a spaghetti dinner. The post will help us with this event. The menu will be spaghetti, meatballs, garlic bread and salad (subject to change).  We will need volunteers and of course donations for baked goods.

We will be doing a memorial sometime at the Post in honor to remember all those we have lost over the past couple of years. There have been so many we have lost and we wanted to come together. Please stay tuned for more information.

Let’s congratulate our new officers for 2022-2023 as we did have our elections at our last meeting.
