Newsletter March 2022

News from the Commander

Spring is almost here; I can’t wait until the weather gets warmer and I hope to see a lot more of you at the Post. Our Lent Fish Fry’s are from 5:00-7:30 March 4 through April 15th. If you haven’t been out to try our Fish Fry or would like to support your Post by volunteering that would be great. Volunteers are always welcome and it doesn’t have to be the whole time-frame, remember many hands make light work. This year we have our Betty Sterner Mess Hall at full capacity and will also offer meals to go. I want to thank all of the people who have worked behind the scenes to get everything ready, but we are just starting the Lent season.

Upcoming events:

  • On March 29th is Vietnam Memorial Day and I hope to see you all at the club where we will have a cake celebrating our Vietnam Veterans.
  • We are planning to have our monthly cruise in again this year. The Car Show will be the first Saturday of the month and the time will be from 12:00 to 4:00 from May thru October weather permitting. We have a flyer out about our first one of the year on May 7th. If you would like one stop by the Post or email us and we can get you one.
  • District 8 meeting is on the 13th of this month.
  • St’ Patrick’s day is on the 17th and the club will be having corn beef cabbage and corn beef sandwiches
  • If you are a Veteran and are interested in running for one of our Officer positions our 1st nominations will be at our Regular Meeting on March 24th at 7:00pm. If you have questions about what the Officers and Trustees are responsible for ask one of the current Officers.
  • The Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade Committee has started planning this year’s event and is planning on everything going on as it was before COVID.

Important Historical Events:

  • March 3, 1931 — Star-Spangled Banner was made as the U.S. National Anthem
  • March 31, 1995 – Somalia Campaign ended
  • March 24, 1999 – Kosovo Campaign began
  • March 19, 2003 – Iraq War began

News from the Auxiliary President

Here comes the sun… Warmer weather is approaching.  I hope everyone is well.  We have so much going on!

Our meeting dates and times have changed.  They will now be held the second Monday of the month at 6pm.

Our upcoming fish frys start on this coming Friday March 4th through the next 7 weeks.  Auxiliary is again doing our Bake sales and we need dessert donations.  We also need volunteers to help with serving and bussing tables.  Please contact me or any other Auxiliary members for questions.

Save the date for May 21st for a Hawaiian Luau pig roast.  This is going to be a lot of fun! I’m so excited. Let’s all get together and make some memories.

TAPS

We lost one of our life-time Auxiliary members, Betty Sterner, whom was part of our post and very dedicated for many many years.  We will be doing something soon in remembrance of her.  May she RIP.

Remember to thank a Veteran today.Stephanie Gobrogge
