From the Commander

Memorial Day was a great success. Cuyahoga Falls has a outstanding dedicated Parade committee who works very hard each year. We weren’t sure how everything was going to turn out because of the restriction’s that were not lifted at that time. However, a lot of people showed up to the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Oakwood Cemetery. We need to never forget all of the people who lost their lives for our country, I am truly thankful for their sacrifice and we pray for their families and friends.

I also want to thank all of the people who helped with the flags we put on all of the Veteran’s graves at the Cemetery. Our Post is looking good, I want to thank all of the people who helped us with the post cleanup the first three Saturdays of May. We got a lot done and we were also able to take care of some maintenance issues.

As a reminder that from May thru October the first Saturday of the month is our post Cruise-in from 12:00-4:00 and the flyer I had made says vintage cars but all cars are welcome, I will take that off of the future Flyers. If you are proud of it bring it to show off your pride and joy. We had over 40 cars attend our May Cruise-in. Now that all of the restrictions are lifted, I hope to see a lot more of you at the post.

I have stopped the Euchre tournaments until October because there are too many people not being able to commit with other things going on. We have some new VFW T-shirts available at the club, we are currently out of Mediums and large but more are coming. I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to see you soon at the post.

From the Auxiliary

Summer is here and the Auxiliary is great! We are wrapping up the 2020-2021 year and getting ready to start the new year off right.

In September, the Auxiliary and the VFW will be participating in the Cuyahoga Falls Community Expo. This annual event showcases local organizations and businesses. This time the event will be held in the Cuyahoga Falls High School parking lot. More details to come.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to vote to replace our Conductress-elect at our May meeting. We thank member Cathy Honsaker who will now be both Guard and Conductress for the new year, which starts on July 1st.

The Auxiliary will be hosting a Paint & Sip event here at the Post on Friday, June 25, 2021. Paint and sip events combine a professionally-led painting class with a high-energy environment and a few drinks. The event starts at 6:00pm and tickets will be $35 each. This includes one drink, a cheese plate and your painting supplies. Other food and drink items will be available for purchase in the Canteen. We hope you will be able to join us for this Auxiliary fundraiser.

As we wrap up this year, we want to thank all of our members for supporting this Auxiliary: we greatly appreciate it. We also wish the officers who are not returning the best and cannot wait to see what they do next.

Our June meeting will be on the 21st at 7:00pm. All active members are welcome to attend and we will be hosting a potluck. We hope to see you there!
