Newsletter March 2021

From the Commander

Spring is almost here! I can’t wait until the weather gets warmer, and I hope to see a lot more of you at the post.

We have only had two weeks of our Lent Fish Fry, and I am happy to report that it is doing very well. If you haven’t been out to try our Fish Fry on Friday yet, think about coming out to support your Post. If you don’t feel comfortable coming in, we have curbside and delivery options available. I want to thank all of the people who are supporting this and thanks to all of our volunteers who are making this happen; which this year is mostly adults because of the world we live in today. I sure hope we get back to normal soon!

Upcoming events:

  • On March 29th is Vietnam Memorial Day and I hope to see you all at the club where we will have a cake celebrating our Vietnam Veterans.
  • We are planning to have our monthly cruise in again this year. The Car Show, however, will be the first Saturday of the month instead of the last Saturday, and the time will be from 12:00 to 4:00 and from May thru October, weather permitting. We will be getting a flyer out to get some early advertising.
  • Karaoke has started again since the restrictions have been lifted which is on Saturdays from 6:00 to 10:00.

The Cuyahoga Falls Memorial Day Parade Committee has started planning this year’s event and has already faced some challenges. As we work through these challenges and restrictions, we will keep you updated. As of now it is looking like the parade itself has been canceled. What we are attempting to accomplish this year is to have a ceremony at the Oakwood Cemetery along with a guest speaker.

For anyone who is interested, our District 8 is having training on Suicide Prevention at the Firestone Post on March 7th at 1:00.

I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to see you soon.

From the Auxiliary

March is here and Spring isn’t far behind! Winter was definitely here for the February meeting, so much so that the meeting was held online to keep all attendees safe and warm.

Thanks to all the members who have completed and returned their questionnaires. We are gathering and updating information every month. If you haven’t sent yours in yet, please do so at your earliest convenience.

Our quarterly audit was held in January and, as always, our treasurer Joyce Hickman did a great job with her reports. Our trustees were pleased with the results.

As you know, it’s Lent and the Post is hosting it’s weekly Fish Fry! When placing your order, whether in person or over the phone, please remember to order dessert from the Auxiliary’s Bake Sale. We appreciate your support!

Our next meeting will be March 15, 2021 at 7:00pm. As always, we plan to meet in-person at the Post but we may need to meet at another location, including online. Please check the Auxiliary’s Facebook page or call the Canteen to confirm our meeting location. The Auxiliary Facebook page is The phone number for the Post Canteen is 330.929.9494. We hope to see you at a meeting soon!
