Newsletter February 2021

From the Commander

The season is upon us. Lent is coming early this year. Ash Wednesday is February 17th and our Friday Fish Fry’s will start February 19th. This year when we start our fish fry’s we will be having curb side pickup, to go orders from the bartender, dining hall seating and we will deliver to your house as long as it’s not more than 10 miles with a $3.00 delivery charge.  We will also need a lot of volunteers this year due to us not having the kids from CFHS helping because of COVID-19. There will be a sign-up sheet at the Post. Thank you in advance for your support.

This is what we hope will get printed in the Beacon Journal:

We will be also starting to plan for the Memorial Day Parade. The first meeting is tentatively scheduled at the American Legion Post 281 on Front Street on February 15th at 7:00. Hopefully it will not be canceled this year! I will keep everyone updated with any changes. I was going to participate in the Memorial Day Parade in DC this year which was going to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Gulf War but it was just canceled, I was really looking forward to that. Karaoke will start up again once our Governor says we can stay open till midnight.

After the Monthly drawing on the 6th of this month at 7:00 our post will play a recorded concert of the Eagles band, it should be a great time hope to see you there.

Karaoke will start as soon as the curfew is lifted to midnight. We are expecting that to be February 11th. So, if it is lifted Karaoke will be from 6:00 to 10:00 PM starting February 13th. The kitchen is open our normal hours so don’t be shy, come get a good meal at a reasonable price!

From the Auxiliary

The new year is rolling along and we all hope that you are staying safe and healthy!

At the January meeting, we will no longer be able to accept Acme receipts until later this year. We appreciate all of you who handed in your receipts for this year. The last day that receipts counted was December 26, 2020. This year the total was $1,812.59. We will let you know when we can begin collecting receipts again in the late summer.

More t-shirts have been ordered! The graphic is different from the previous ones but we think you will like it. Please ask an Auxiliary member or bartender for ordering information.

Have you sent in your questionnaire yet? If not, please do so as soon as possible. We are collecting the information to update our records and plan for future activities.

As always, we hope that you will join us for meetings so that you can become more active and involved. We know that we get better with more participation!

Our next meeting will be Monday, February 15, 2021 at 7:00pm. Our meetings are typically held in the Post Hall. If we have to meet in another location, we will let you know beforehand. If you don’t already follow us on Facebook, please do so! We can be found at https://www.facebook.com/vfwaux1062. See you soon!
