From the Commander
We are having our Friday fish fries thru the Lent season, so come to the post and try what we have to offer. And this year we trying fresh cut french fries.
The post is going to have a vehicle ‘cruise in’ starting in May thru September on the last Saturday of the month from 12:00 to 4:00. It will be a great time to get together with our members and let people know about our club. People do not know that we are open to the public, and I believe this will bring us some good exposure in the community. Please come and support this great organization.
I have some Honor Flight Applications that recognizes Veterans for their sacrifices and achievements by flying them to Washington DC to see the Memorials at no cost. This is for anyone who served in World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
Upcoming Events
March 14th we will be hosting a chili cook off at 1:00 for Warriors Journey Home, they are a non-profit that helps post 9/11 veterans. Please help support this great organization.
March 17th we will be having a St. Patrick’s Day celebration starting at 7:00. The Post will have music along with corned beef and cabbage.
March 28th Our post is going to be at the Community Expo at the Natatorium on the 28th from 8:00 to 2:00 to let the community know what we are all about and hopefully get some new members.
March 29th is National Vietnam War Veterans Day and our Post will have a special cake honoring our Vietnam Veterans
District News
Our VFW District 8 is having a VFW golf scramble to be held Friday June 26th, at Knoll Run Golf Course in Lowellville, Ohio. This is open to VFW members and their families, Police and Fire. If you are interested see the Commander for more information.
From the Auxiliary
March has arrived and Spring is just around the corner! The Auxiliary has been very busy and we like it that way!
We must have a great reputation because in February we gained five new members! We look forward to seeing them soon. If you know anyone who is a family member of a veteran who served in overseas combat, please share an application with them. Applications are available at the Canteen.
The fabric for bar stools has been purchased and will soon replace the torn fabric on the seats in the Canteen. Soon we will request your help in the process of removing the old and adding the new and hope that you can join us. Shout out to Auxiliary treasurer, Joyce Hickman, for getting such a great deal on the fabric!
It’s fishin’ season again! The fish frys will take place every Friday through April 10th, and the Auxiliary will hold a bake sale during those dinners. Stop by for a sweet treat, 5:00pm to 7:30pm.
On Saturday, March 28th, the Auxiliary and VFW will participate in the Cuyahoga Falls Community Expo for the second year in a row. The Expo runs from 8:00am to 2:00pm. Stop by and say hello while checking out all the other organizations in our great community!
Looking ahead to April, we are planning to host an Easter Egg hunt for children on Sunday, April 5th. Details will be made available by March 20th. We are looking forward to hosting this event and if you are interested in assisting or providing items, please speak with Canteen Manager, Mary Munn.
Our next meeting is Monday, March 16th at 6:00pm. PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER TIME. We look forward to seeing our members then!
