From the Commander
May is a very special month because May 27th is the day that we celebrate Memorial Day. Memorial Day is an American Holiday, that is observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military originally known as Decoration Day. I hope to see many of you at this year’s Memorial Day Parade which starts at 9:00 Am. Our Post will be having a luncheon following the Parade about 1:00 and we request that everyone bring a side dish to share at the Post.
Saturday May 25th, 9:00 our post will be putting flags on all of the Veterans graves at Chestnut Memorial Gardens. If you could volunteer some of your time to help with this it would be very much appreciated.
To get our Post ready for Memorial Day and all the other activities this summer we will be doing a Post Cleanup. If you could spare an hour or two on May 18th at 10:00 to help us make our Post look great, we would really appreciate it. We will be cleaning up the past winter leaves, branches, and anything else floating around outside. The more we have the less time it will take. Thank you in advance.
Our Post is starting a dart tournament so if you’re interested come down to the Post and sign up. We have a lot of activities going on at the Post so if you haven’t been to our Post for a while, I hope to see you soon.
Friday May 24th is Military Appreciation Day at the Rubber Ducts Baseball Stadium. And don’t forget May 12th is Mother’s Day, and I want to say to all of the Mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day.

The bake sales are over. Thanks to all of you who donated to the sale and thanks to all who helped at the fish fries. At the last meeting the auxiliary elected to donate the proceeds to the post. The post is looking at a security system and we wanted to help.
May 6 we are again playing Bingo at Kentridge Senior Living. We meet at the post at 6p and caravan to Kentridge. Hope to see you there.
Our Easter lottery board was won by Deb Price. Congratulations. Hope you won big!
The next District 8 meeting is May 19 at the Hubbard post at 10am.
The traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall will be at the Northfield post June 13 to 16. Benches will placed along the wall for visitors to rest. The auxiliary purchased one of the benches and then it will reside at our post. We are so excited to be able to support such a project.
