From the Commander

Happy New year everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and had time to spend with family and friends. Thanks to everyone who bought food and or desserts to the Post Christmas luncheon, it was a great meal and I want to thank Betty for all the hard work that she does for our Post activities and to Leo for providing our music when needed.  For New Year’s Eve we will have a party from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, so if you don’t know what to do or just want to get out for a bit and make some memories with some good friends stop by the Post. We will have sausage and kraut. We are also asking for side if you are able. New Year’s Day the Post will be open from Noon to 10:00 PM. Remember your Dues are due at this time. Veterans are based on their signup dates and everyone else, this includes the Auxiliary, are due January 1st. Anyone not paid by the end of January will lose their current number and will need to reapply. Where this matters is for our Queen of Hearts, you need to be a member in good standing in order to play!

Auxiliary

The family we adopted for Christmas was very appreciative of all the gifts. The family Consisted of a Navy veteran of the Vietnam era, his wife, and two grand-children. We continue to collect box tops for education. Plan to pick them all up after the first part of the year. Acme receipts with community cash back ends December 31st. Will send in after our January 21st meeting. Our latest lottery board winner was Ann Carmany —Congratulations! (She actually won money!!!) January 8th we again play bingo at Kent Ridge. We start at 6:30 for anyone that would like to join in on the fun. Our first Freedom Festival is scheduled February 9th from 1-5PM. We will showcase the Post and what we do for the community. Any proceeds will go to St. Joes in Cuyahoga Falls to help send student to Washington DC in the Spring.

Canteen

Kitchen: (Currently Closed) — Currently our kitchen is closed until we can find another cook, Deborah has had some health issues and is taking care of herself. We are working diligently to get the kitchen open as soon as possible. If anyone knows anyone with some kitchen experience that would like some part-time work have them fill out an application.

Super Bowl Party Noon – Until after the Game Charlie Tunes will play from 7:00p – 12:45a Bring snacks and your dancing shoes. Party!!!
