FROM THE COMMANDER

Our Post had a wonderful Thanksgiving Luncheon and I want to thank Brett Valentine for cooking the turkeys and to everyone that brought a side dish to make this an outstanding meal for the Post. It’s hard to believe that this year is almost over and Christmas will be here soon. Our Post Christmas Eve and Christmas day hours will be from 12:00 – 10:00, and we will have a luncheon on Christmas day with ham and there is a sign-up sheet for people to bring side dishes, lets make this an outstanding meal for our Post.

So how do you burn off the calories that you ate on Thanksgiving you ask? Well you complete a 2000 square foot Dinning Hall at the VFW! I want to personally thank Charlie Stanfield, Bob Clark, Chris Perry and Mark Hickman for helping me replace the carpet in the dining hall with a new floor that really looks amazing. This floor was completed by us in 12 hours and I can tell you these people worked very hard to get this done. The hall was also repainted by Bob Clark, Charlie Stanfield and Carolyn Swanson. That was allot of work for just 3 people and I thank you so much for you your hard work and it also looks amazing. The Betty Sterner Mess Hall is about 90% complete. We only have a few touch ups, a little more painting and the base board to get installed. I also want to thank again our Anonymous donor who donated the funds for this new floor, without this person this would not have happened. I always say many hands make light work so we can always use volunteers even for just a couple of hours to help us improve our Post, all you have to do is get with any of our officers to see how you could help.

I’m thinking about sometime next year of starting up a family game day, I would like to see more people getting together at the Post having fun together and also being able to do this with their family members if this is something that they would like to do. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

He won our October lottery board. The Pos and Auxiliary are trying to adopt a veteran family for the Christmas holiday. As of this writing, the service commission has not gotten back to me.
